Cape May County Is Holding a Town Hall Event in Ocean City to Help Take on “Big Wind” Next Wednesday Night

“I got a lot of problems with you people! And now you’re gonna hear about it!”

That’s how Frank Costanza kicked off the Airing of Grievances during the inaugural Festivus celebration.

And that’s probably how things will go down Wednesday night, March 15, at the Ocean City Tabernacle at 6 PM when Mayor Gillian and Director of the Cape May County Board of Commissioners Len Desiderio hold a public information session on the offshore windmills project everyone hates.

“We tried very hard to have productive discussions with the wind developer,” said Mayor Gillian.  “But they went to the legislature and got a bill through to take away Home Rule and then they used that to get the BPU, an unelected state agency, to take away the authority of the duly elected leaders of Cape May County and Ocean City and to give this foreign Big-Wind company what they want.  Things are moving too fast and with too much at stake if we don’t get it right.  Our Public Information Session on March 15th will give us an opportunity to update the public and, most importantly, to listen to the concerns that people have.”

While it is not required, interested members of the public can go to capewindinfo.com to register in advance for this public information session.

The event comes just hours before what should be a RAUCOUS event at the Wildwood Convention Center on March 16. Congressman Van Drew (R) is hosting. A representative from the company installing the windmills, Orsted, was invited to the event.

Buckle up.
